Oh my gawd – is this Packed To The Rafters’ Hugh Sheridan?

Is this a young Hugh Sheridan?

Is this a young Hugh Sheridan?

Goodness gracious. Is this really the fabulous multi-talented Hugh Sheridan from Packed To The Rafters when he was a bit younger? Or am I on bad drugs? Check out the video below:

The hair is different but flippin’ heck…the facial features look like him! I’ve tried to find out from the internet if it is actually him but without luck. What do you think?

There are some things money can’t buy…for everything else there’s Gustav!

Gustav aka 'Johnny Snygge"

My fabtronic friend Gustav – who hosted Yoda and myself for 10 days in Sweden recently – has always been generous when it comes to helping out with translating things from Swedish into English. His father began exposing him to the English language from the age of 2 and then, of course, all Swedish children begin to do English lessons from a very young age in school. Needless to say Gustav’s English is second to none and he’s a fast translator.

Gustav and I have been friends for over 12 years now. It seems like a lifetime actually. He’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to my life. And I’ve been missing him for the last couple of weeks since I returned to Australia. I dropped him a quick email last night – spurred on by the news that Nanne has a new single – Otacksamhet. He’s the world’s biggest Nanne fan and he got me into her over a decade ago.

As a result of that email and Gustav’s generosity, I now have the complete translation to Otacksamhet!

Tack så mycket min speciella vän!

Thank you Gustav – you’re the best!!!!!!

Otacksamhet (Ungratefulness / Ingratitude)

I look good, I’m thin and totally perfect
I only eat salmon and unsaturated fat
A glass of red wine and dark chocolate
Drinking tea from green leaves

I go out almost every day
Standing in the same fucking bar
In the end I’m the only one left
Still can’t find a man

Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)
Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)
I’ve been out to every discotheque
No one asks me to dance
No one’s looking at me
Why can’t they see what they’re missing!

Ungratefulness (Ingratitude) – oooh
Ungratefulness (Ingratitude) – oooh

I’ve redone my apartment
Given to charity
I walk proud in a Gay parade
Sing my best at a karaoke bar
But what does all of that matter?
Give me chips and a coco-ball
Cause they don’t get anything
And I turn in to a whining bitch

Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)
Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)
I’ve been out to every discotheque
No one asks me to dance
No one’s looking at me
Why can’t they see what they’re missing!

Mirror mirror on the wall
Tell me who is the fairest in the land
No, skip that. I already know who it is

Went to a good clinic
Got my boobs done with plastic
Got a good package deal
So I fixed my lips with botox
That the swelling will go down is sad
Right now I look like a stupid fish
Yes, now I look like shit
I can’t even go out

Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)
Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)
I’ve been out to every discotheque
No one asks me to dance
No one’s looking at me
Why can’t they see what they’re missing!

Ungratefulness (Ingratitude)

I certainly never meant for this to be a web presence about my favourite music or for sharing news about artists and groups but………..NANNE HAS A NEW SINGLE COMING OUT!!!! Arghhhh!

If you don’t know who Nanne is by now well….shame on you!

try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanne_Gr%C3%B6nvall

Anyway, thanks to Yoda for letting me know about this.

I started to play it once tonight from Youtube and I can’t stop! The title means ‘Ungrateful’ but I don’t know what the lyrics are. I’d love a Swedish – English translation of them.

It’s not coming out as a physical single which really pisses me off but it is available to buy from: http://www.klicktrack.com/lionheart/releases/nanne/otacksamhet So that’s where I’ll be getting it from. I don’t have anything to do with the Evil Apple Empire on my computer so I always find it hard to find alternative sources to buy downloads.

Anyway, enough of the hoo-haa….this is Nanne at her best with Otacksamhet

My virtual holiday slide night: Stockholm 2009

How people have the dedication to spend hundreds of hours editing videos I have absolutely no idea.

The clip below has taken me about 8 solid hours and one ‘draft’ version that got deleted this morning from Youtube. I thought it might be fun to put some of my trip photos into a ‘slide show’ for the net backed with some appropriate music.

I chose Sarah Dawn Finer’s TV performance of ‘Stockholm By Morning’ and an instrumental version of ‘Stockholm I Mitt Hjärta’ (Stockholm In My Heart). Of course we all know Stockholm I Mitt Hjärta is sung at the beginning of every Allsång På Skansen, don’t we? You didn’t know that? Shame on you!

Anyway, here is the finished product. A kind of ‘what I did on my summer vacation’ show and tell. Or more ‘show’ actually 😉 The pictures are taken in Gustav’s home suburb, in Gamla Stan and Stockholm city as well as the Alcazar Unplugged gig. Not to mention lots from Pride Park and the Stockholm Pride Parade 2009. Just a little taste of my time in the most gorgeous city in the world.

I found the best way of watching it is to hit the HQ button and then watch it full-screen.

Feedback, comments naturally sought!

I guess Volvo drivers get sick of being made fun of

All The Roads Lead To Heaven

I have done absolutely nothing today.

Slack as dogs balls.

Didn’t even leave the flat even though it was a beautiful sunny day out there.

Went back to bed for a couple of hours during the middle of all the sunshine.

Quite ironic then that I was listening to this song as I mindless surfed the net yet again tonight. I listened to the lyrics for the first time and thought….’woops! that’s me!’

‘What have you done with your life today?’…well, sod all actually!

Maybe tomorrow I’ll do something 😉

I hear the clock tick
Ticking away
What have you done with your life today
Have you done what you feel
Did you do something real
Or did you just let it slip away
Did you ever stop to think
It could be over in a blink
So don’t throw your time away
If you’re holding onto sorrow
If your holding onto pain

Let it go
Set it free
Fulfil your fantasy
All the roads lead to heaven
If we dare to follow
The voice of the heart
To be or not to be
All the roads lead to heaven if we dare
To follow the heart

I wanna free fall fall free
Freedom today
Make all your dreams come true
Stumble and fall
Make the time make the call
No one’s gonna do it for you
No time to wait no
Step up to the plate go
You can make yourself shine through
If you’re holding onto sorrow
If you’re holding onto pain

Let it go
Set it free
Fulfil your fantasy
All the roads lead to heaven
If we dare to follow
The voice of the heart
To be or not to be
All the roads lead to heaven if we dare
To follow the heart

To follow the heart

We all need heroes

We all need heroes, don’t we.

Here’s one of mine – Stig ‘Stikkan’ Anderson.

During my recent holiday my friend Gustav took Yoda and I on a road trip of Sweden. I saw more of the country than in the 10 or so times I’d been before. We stopped at a lot of smaller places – including Hova, the birthplace of Stig.

We asked where the bust was at a local shop – only to be told we’d walked past it and it was about 30 seconds walk from the shop itself. Did we feel like dills? You bet!

Anyway, it was another ‘bucket list’ item crossed off the list. Visiting the memorial bust to a man who I had first known of when I was just 15. And someone I came to admire over the years. I certainly knew a lot about him and he certainly knew of my existence but peripherally. I even caused him a bit of trouble over the years 😉

After all this time it was finally nice to see this bust or ‘statue’ as I call it. Hard to believe he’s been dead for over a decade.

Anyway, he was one of my heroes. Still is actually.
