A long way to go

Part of the lounge room in desperate need of....something!

There’s a small part of my lounge room that looks relatively neat and vacuumed and as if a regular human being might actually live here. That part is obviously not in the picture above!

Today has been all about trying to round up papers to do with the organisation that Grant and I ran for 12 years. Trying to find all the legal and business bits and pieces so we can lodge everything that needs to lodged and finally close down the company we created to run the organisation.

We have both been putting this off for months. It’s a nightmare job because the papers are everywhere and there’s so much crap to wade through to find what we actually need.

The last two years of running the organisation were in crisis mode as some of you might know. So papers and such were not filed the way they previously had been. They were generally just left in piles as we moved from drama to drama. Now it’s payback time – and god, how we’re feeling it.

So much paper, so much of it not needed, so much that needs to be disposed of or shredded. Grant took down quite a few loads of paper for recycling today but that’s barely scratched the surface.

Getting down on the floor to sort through stuff shows you how your knees and legs have become creaky and prone to complain as time goes on. And all the dust made me sneeze and Grant cough violently.

Still, a little bit was achieved. We now have a bit of a system in place for sorting papers and we’re going to start the work again at 10am tomorrow morning.

It’s going to take a lot more than one weekend but we have to start somewhere. It’s at times like this I wish I had Samantha from Bewitched’s powers and could just wiggle my nose and have everything magically sorted.

One side benefit of all this sweat and stress might just be that more of the place I call home might actually start to look like a home. Rather than a multi-roomed waste paper receptacle.

But there’s a long, long way to go. And it’s all uphill.

  1. Hi

You are not the only one. I have been cleaning up the majority of my mess in these last couple of weeks and there is still more to do.

I just started throwing away all the old clothes and rubbish I no longer need in this lifetime all into the bin!

Maybe you might need to do a bit of what I achieved! You might ask Twist In The Dark to help you out a bit as well?
